Raspberry Pi Announces $5–$10 Price Increase for 4GB and 8GB Models

Raspberry Pi has announced a modest price adjustment for some of its products, citing a sharp global rise in memory prices. Over the past six months, the cost of LPDDR memory — widely used in Raspberry Pi devices — has surged due to the overwhelming demand for High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) driven by AI applications. According to the company, memory now costs around 120% more than it did a year ago.

$5–$10 price increases for some 4GB and 8GB products

Why the Price Increase?

The surge in AI-related semiconductor demand has created a production bottleneck for LPDDR memory. Raspberry Pi initially mitigated the impact by relying on its large memory stockpiles, allowing prices to remain steady. However, as inventories have dwindled, the company now finds it necessary to adjust prices to reflect the new cost environment.

Updated Raspberry Pi Pricing (Effective Immediately)

ProductPrevious PriceNew PriceChange
4GB Compute Module 4$60$65+$5
8GB Compute Module 4$75$85+$10
4GB Compute Module 5$60$65+$5
8GB Compute Module 5$75$85+$10
Raspberry Pi 500 (unit-only)$90$100+$10
Raspberry Pi Development Kit for CM5$130$135+$5
Raspberry Pi 3B+$35$40+$5
Compute Module 1$30$25-$5

Note: 1GB and 2GB variants remain unaffected, as the impact of the memory cost increase is minimal at those capacities.

Maintaining Accessibility and Value

The Raspberry Pi Foundation emphasized its commitment to keeping computing affordable, noting that these adjustments are temporary and directly tied to the global memory market. In fact, the Compute Module 1 saw a price reduction of $5, helping balance costs across older models.

Despite higher memory prices, Raspberry Pi continues to offer exceptional value and performance, especially in the educational and maker communities. The company also maintained the Raspberry Pi 500 kit price at $120 by accepting reduced margins — a testament to its dedication to affordability.

Raspberry Pi expects these changes to be temporary. Once memory pricing stabilizes and returns to its historical downward trend, the company plans to revisit and potentially roll back these adjustments.
