Allwinner T153-Based Industrial SoM and SBC Combine Arm Cortex-A7 and RISC-V Cores

Forlinx Embedded has unveiled the FET153-S System-on-Module (SoM) and the OK153-S Single Board Computer (SBC) — both powered by the Allwinner T153 hybrid processor that uniquely integrates quad-core Arm Cortex-A7 CPUs with a XuanTie E907 RISC-V core.

FET153-S System-on-Module (SoM

This combination of Arm and RISC-V architectures offers a balance of real-time control, deterministic performance, and Linux versatility, targeting industrial automation, edge computing, and IoT gateway applications.

Hybrid Architecture for Industrial Use

The Allwinner T153 SoC is designed for industrial workloads that require both high-level OS execution and precise control loops.

  • CPU: 4× Arm Cortex-A7 @ up to 1.6 GHz
  • Co-Processor: XuanTie E907 RISC-V @ up to 600 MHz
  • GPU: 2D GPU (no 3D/VPU/NPU)
  • Security: Hardware encryption engine + secure boot

This setup allows Linux to handle GUI and communication tasks on the Arm cores, while the RISC-V core takes care of real-time and safety-critical operations.

Software and Development

The Forlinx FET153-S/OK153-S platform runs Linux kernel 5.10 and supports Qt 5.15 for GUI applications.
Developers get full access to:

  • Source code (SPL, U-Boot, kernel, drivers)
  • Drivers for display, camera, audio, CAN, and network
  • Sample projects, test utilities, and debugging tools

While Forlinx hosts documents and SDKs on Dropbox, users must contact them directly for access after purchase. The platform supports both Arm and RISC-V debugging over USB Type-C.

Industrial Features

  • Wide −40°C to +85°C temperature range
  • Triple Gigabit Ethernet for redundancy or daisy-chaining
  • Dual CAN-FD and RS-485 for automation and control systems
  • Secure boot and hardware encryption engine for data protection
  • Built-in watchdog and RTC for reliability

These features make the board ideal for machine controllers, PLC edge nodes, industrial IoT, and AI-free real-time systems where reliability and determinism matter more than raw performance.

Forlinx typically does not list prices publicly. Interested developers and OEMs can request quotations via the official FET153-S SoM and OK153-S SBC product pages.
The kits are expected to be available for both commercial and industrial customers later this year.
