Edge AI boards are evolving fast, and Grinn’s new Genioboard is a strong example of where things are headed. It’s a credit-card sized SBC built around MediaTek’s Genio 510 or Genio 700 processors, wrapped with hardware-level security that ticks the boxes for the EU’s Cybersecurity Resilience Act (CRA).
If you’re building computer vision, industrial automation, smart home appliances, or multimedia-heavy embedded systems, this little board is clearly aimed at you.

Designed Like a Raspberry Pi, Powered for Edge AI
The layout looks familiar. The Genioboard follows the general footprint of a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, but under the hood, it’s operating in a different league entirely.
It ships with a Genio 510 or Genio 700 SoM, both based on Arm Cortex-A78/A55 clusters, paired with a GPU, DSP, and a dedicated neural processing engine.

Grinn provides documentation, a wiki, and an active Yocto layer on GitHub. If you’ve worked with other Genio platforms or embedded Linux stacks, you’ll feel right at home.
Grinn clearly built the Genioboard for serious embedded work rather than hobbyist tinkering.

The MediaTek Genio line is gaining traction, but boards using the 510/700 SoCs are surprisingly rare in this compact size.
The closest alternative is the upcoming Radxa NIO 5A, powered by the newer MediaTek Genio 520, capable of up to 10 TOPS. That board may eventually deliver more raw AI performance, but it's not widely available yet.
Most other Genio boards are either:
- larger 3.5-inch designs,
- Pico-ITX formats, or
- system-on-modules without a full SBC carrier.
So for now, the Genioboard stands out as one of the few compact, fully featured solutions in this class.
Here’s where things get a bit unclear.
The press release says the board is available for order directly from Grinn or through distributors. But at the moment, the official site simply says “Available Soon Through Major Distributors.”
No pricing information is listed either.
