Radxa Orion O6N – Compact, Affordable 12-Core Armv9 Nano-ITX SBC with AI Accelerator

 Radxa has introduced the Orion O6N, a Nano-ITX single-board computer (SBC) built around the CIX P1 (CD8160) processor — a 12-core Armv9 CPU with a powerful 30 TOPS AI accelerator, LPDDR5 memory, and high-speed PCIe Gen4 connectivity.

The O6N is essentially a smaller, cheaper sibling to the Orion O6 mini-ITX launched last year, offering nearly the same feature set but in a 120 × 120 mm Nano-ITX form factor. Despite its compact size, it retains robust computing power for AI, edge computing, robotics, and industrial automation.

Core Specifications and Highlights

At the heart of the O6N lies the CIX P1 CD8160 SoC, featuring a 12-core DynamIQ cluster with a modern Armv9 architecture:

  • 4× Cortex-A720 (big cores) @ up to 2.6 GHz
  • 4× Cortex-A720 (medium cores) @ up to 2.4 GHz
  • 4× Cortex-A520 (efficiency cores) @ up to 1.8 GHz
  • 12 MB shared L3 cache
  • Arm Immortalis-G720 MC10 GPU with ray tracing, supporting Vulkan 1.3, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 3.0
  • AI Accelerator: Up to 30 TOPS (supports INT4/8/16, FP16/BF16, TF32 formats)
  • Manufacturing process: TSMC 6 nm

It’s slightly underclocked compared to the Orion O6’s CD8180 (2.6 GHz vs 2.8 GHz big cores), but makes up for it with more storage flexibility, reduced cost, and expanded modular options.

Memory and Storage

The Orion O6N supports a wide range of configurations:

  • System memory: 8 GB – 64 GB LPDDR5 @ 5500 MT/s (128-bit bus)
  • Storage:
    • M.2 M-Key (PCIe Gen4 x4) for NVMe SSDs
    • UFS connector for Radxa storage modules

This combination makes it suitable for data-intensive AI applications and fast I/O workloads.

Display and Multimedia

The board supports up to three simultaneous displays:

  • HDMI 2.0 up to 4K @ 60 Hz (with CEC)
  • DisplayPort 1.4 up to 4K @ 120 Hz (MST dual-stream capable)
  • USB-C (DP Alt Mode) up to 4K @ 60 Hz
  • eDP with touchscreen support

The VPU can handle 8K @ 60 Hz decoding for modern codecs (AV1, H.265, H.264, VP9) and 8K @ 30 Hz encoding, making it a capable platform for AI-vision, digital signage, or media-edge nodes.

Networking and Connectivity

The O6N scales down from the O6’s 5 GbE to dual 2.5 GbE ports, still plenty for most embedded and networked workloads.

It also includes expansion options for:

  • Wi-Fi 7/6E + Bluetooth via M.2 E-Key
  • 4G LTE / 5G cellular via M.2 B-Key

For wired expansion:

  • 2× USB-C (10 Gbps), 2× USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, 3× USB 2.0 Type-A
  • Internal USB 2.0 header
  • PCIe x16 slot (electrically x8 Gen4) for GPUs and accelerator cards

I/O and Expansion

  • 40-pin GPIO header (color-coded): 3× UART, 2× I²C, 2× I²S, 2× PWM, 1× SPI, 10× GPIO
  • 2× M.2 M-Key (PCIe Gen4 x4)
  • M.2 E-Key (PCIe Gen4 x2 + USB)
  • M.2 B-Key for modems
  • 6× UART headers
  • RTC backup header, PWM fan control, and system LEDs

All in a Nano-ITX layout (120 × 120 mm) with standard 75 × 75 mm heatsink mounting holes.

Power and Cooling

Power options include:

  • 12 V DC @ 5 A (barrel jack / 4-pin connector)
  • 20 V via USB-C PD (65 W min)
  • 24-pin ATX connector

The board includes a 4-pin CPU fan header, smart PWM control, and real-time temperature monitoring — with an active cooler and 60 W PSU included during pre-orders.

Software Support

The Orion O6N supports:

  • Debian 12 / Ubuntu Linux
  • Full UEFI (EDK II) firmware
  • BSP & SDK from Radxa

The board has achieved Arm SystemReady SR v2.5 certification, indicating strong compliance with standard Arm server boot protocols. Radxa’s community reports improving GPU performance and active Linux mainlining efforts.

Documentation for O6N is still in progress, but O6 docs offer a close reference.

The Radxa Orion O6N Nano-ITX SBC is available for $199 (32 GB RAM) — the same price as the Orion O6 8 GB model.

Use coupon code “ARACE-O6N” for a $12 discount during the pre-order phase. Each unit ships with a free active cooler and 60 W power supply.

That makes the O6N an incredible value for developers and makers seeking high-end Arm AI performance in a smaller, more efficient form factor.
